It started with one lehenga and a very full wardrobe.
A cousin’s wedding, a lehenga that cost more than a month’s rent, and one evening of wear. Then a garment bag at the back of a cupboard for four years.
That is the story behind OOTD Cart, and it is not an unusual one. Indian occasion wear is extraordinary — the weaving, the embroidery, the sheer number of hours in a single dupatta — and it deserves better than a single outing.
So we built a rail. Then a studio in Gurgaon, a team of tailors, and a network of consignors who let their own pieces work for them. Today a garment on OOTD Cart goes out an average of eleven times a year instead of once in a lifetime, and the person who bought it earns each time it does.
